London 2012: Award-winning work around the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, to be hosted in London, offer a unique opportunity to link the aims of social enterprises to arguably the world’s most culturally significant sporting event.

SEL has run a succession of influential events across the country to articulate a social enterprise vision for the Games including:

  • A high-profile roundtable with senior figures around the themes underpinning the Games, that included Lord Nat Wei and Lord Andrew Mawson alongside senior representatives from the social enterprise sector, public-sector and private-sector sponsors of the 2012 Games. Click here for more information.
  • A major international Olympic Legacy conference hosted in central London exactly 500 days before the start of the London 2012 Games. Click here for more information.

This was part of a national programme – winning With Social Enterprise – funded through the Office for Civil Society’s Strategic Partners Programme between 2007 and 2011.

The impact of winning With Social Enterprise was acknowledged in April 2008 when it was awarded the prestigious Inspire Mark, below.
