Launch of 2012 business 'dating agency'
Social enterprises are encouraged to register on the ‘2012 Business Network’ launched in January 2008. The Network can be accessed by visiting this website.
The network will help companies access the 2012 Games' business opportunities, by enabling them to to communicate directly with London 2012 or with suppliers in their supply chain.
The ‘2012 Business Network’ consists of three core elements:
The core of the Network is the ‘CompeteFor’ service, a business ‘dating agency’ that will match companies to thousands of opportunities supplying London 2012 contractors.
How CompeteFor works
CompeteFor (www.competefor.com) is the chosen website of London 2012 for the publication of Games-related contract opportunities. We encourage you to register for CompeteFor to view current London 2012 tender opportunities. There are also plans to continue using CompeteFor post-2012 to advertise other business opportunities and the 'dating' service could be very useful to social enterprises.
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) will advertise their direct contract opportunities online through CompeteFor.
Direct (upper tier) London 2012 contractors will also be encouraged to advertise their supply chain opportunities through the system. Companies at every level of the London 2012 supply chain may also advertise their opportunities through CompeteFor.
When registering for CompeteFor, you will be asked several questions to determine if you are "Fit to Tender". The system will automatically direct you to your local Business Link if further business support would better prepare you for the bidding process.
You will also be able to view profiles of registered businesses, and you can approach them directly if you feel that by working together (in partnerships or consortia) you stand more chances of winning a contract.
