Clare Sharpen

Associate

Clare is a consultant and trainer with expertise in maximising the potential of social enterprises.  Her key specialisms include organisational development with a focus on strategic planning, process implementation, project management, team development and management training.

Having run a £500k turnover social enterprise working with long-term unemployed, homeless people and refugees, Clare knows first hand the many joys and challenges that social enterprise brings.  Clare established and led the training and organisational development department within GLE Consulting until 2010, which included delivering support and training to over 1,000 social enterprises and third sector organisations.  Her strong track record in project management includes successfully delivering a £3.5m EU funded project leading a complex consortium in supporting small businesses across London. 

Alongside her professional work Clare is a trustee for the Charity ‘First Fruit’ and serves on the Management Committee for a social enterprise initiative ‘Bold Vision’ which recently set up a successful local community cafe in New Cross.

An extract from Clare’s MSc research Social Enterprise Under the Microscope was published in SEL’s Social Enterprise Journal Volume 2 and presented at the Annual Social Enterprise Research Conference in 2006.

Clare is a CIPD qualified trainer and a member of the Institute of Leadership & Management.  She holds an MA in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Development Management from the Open University.
