Criteria for the new £16.7m Hardship Fund announced

This year's Budget saw the announcement of a £16.7m Hardship Fund for the sector, building on the £42.5m Real Help for Communities action plan.

The Hardship Fund will provide grant support to third sector organisations in England delivering front-line services to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society that have been affected by the recession.

Futurebuilders Modernisation Fund

If your organisation is benefitting people or communities that are affected by the recession, then you could be eligible for a 0% interest loan for up to five years. On behalf of Real Help for Communities, Futurebuilders England is providing loans from between £30,000 and £500,000 to third sector organisations that are finding their services in particular demand as a consequence of the recession.

JobCentre Plus Recruitment Subsidy

The Recruitment Subsidy is a £1,000 payment to employers for recruiting eligible 6 month plus JSA customers into jobs which will last for 26 weeks or more, and average at least 16 hours per week. Eligible customers receive a voucher which they can use to market themselves to employers. This approach is aimed at smaller employers who will employ less than 12 people a year.

London's Future 500

London's Future 500 provides paid work and training for unemployed young people in some of London's leading social enterprises.

The programme, which is funded under the Future Jobs Fund and runs until March 2011, is a partnership between Social Enterprise London, Striding Out and Prevista.

If you are aged between 16-24 and have been unemployed for at least six months (claiming Job Seekers Allowance), then click here to have a look at the outstanding opportunities which are available to you.

As well as a paid job, you will be offered mentoring supoort provided by Striding Out, and the opportunity to meet and share experiences with fellow London's Future 500 employees.
