Ogden-Newton named as finalist in Oguntê Women's Social Leadership Awards 2010

Allison Ogden-Newton, Chief Executive of Social Enterprise London, has today been named among the finalists nominated for the Women’s Social Leadership Awards 2010.

Established in 2007, the awards recognise women in the UK and abroad, influential leaders, connectors, campaigners and social entrepreneurs, who influence sustainable development, offer innovative and sustainable solutions to pressing social issues, and can evidence their social impact.

Allison has been Chief Executive of Social Enterprise London for six years. Under her stewardship the organisation has grown into one of the largest and best known social enterprise development agencies in the UK. Through her work at SEL she oversees a pioneering programme of social enterprise training and support, and is one of the leading advocates of the movement to local and national government and to the private sector. She has a strong following on Twitter, a popular blog through which she reports on both the hot topics for social enterprise, and juggling life as a working mother and writes regular columns in the Guardian.

Organised by Oguntê Ltd, a women focused Social Innovations and Leadership Development organisation, the awards aim to encourage and acknowledge extraordinary vision, responsible business and campaigning practices, as well as social responsibility. The winners will be announced at an event at The RSA in London, on June 8th 2010, from 6pm.

This event is an Oguntê, RSA and V Capital partnership.

Allison Ogden-Newton said:

“I’m delighted to be nominated for such a prestigious award. Oguntê is a powerful advocate of the importance of encouraging and supporting women in the workplace – a cause which, as a woman operating in a male dominated environment for almost twenty years, is very close to my heart. I congratulate all finalists and look forward to attending what will undoubtedly be an excellent event on 8 June.”

Servane Mouazan, CEO Oguntê Ltd said:

“At Oguntê we are passionate about supporting, promoting and connecting women of courage, who bring about genuine innovative ideas and actions to solve social problems. We encourage them to come forward and demonstrate how they create a positive social impact and how they make the world a fairer place. These women, recognised in our yearly Social Leadership Awards, prove that with generosity, focus, confidence and robust networks, you can achieve great and measurable social change.”
