SEL launch Social Enterprise Word Week

Social Enterprise London has this week teamed up with pioneering online dictionary Wordia.com to launch Social Enterprise Word Week.

The idea is very simple; well known and inspiring figures from across the social enterprise movement provide video definitions of words themed around social enterprise. The aim is to carry the ideas and principles of social enterprise to a wider audience.

The week kicks off today with SEL Chief Executive Allison Ogden-Newton discussing the word 'profit'. Through the rest of the week some of the most inspirational social entrepreneurs from across the capital will be discussing words which in some way inspire them, or drive what they do. Contributors include Big Issue Chair John Bird, Magic Breakfast founder Carmel McConnell, Livity Chief Exec Sam Conniff and Divine Chocolate Chief Exec Sophi Tranchell.  The aim is to start an exciting new dialogue, with video adding a unique dimension - broader than that of a traditional dictionary.

Since launching under a year ago, Wordia has received over 1 million visits, and is already being used as a key teaching resource in schools and colleges. Past contributors include Liberty Director Shami Chakrabarti and the Archbishop of Canterbury.

We hope you find the words and ideas discussed this week stimulating, and encourage you to circulate it around your own networks and contacts, and to add your own contributions.
