Consultancy
SEL is itself a social enterprise and we provide specialist consultancy services working with the public, private and third sectors to develop the sustainability of organisations with social objectives. We also work with both UK-based internationally focused organisations and international organisations.
Our advice is practical and evidence based, and we leverage our knowledge from our policy and research activities. We work collaboratively with our clients to find innovative business solutions to social challenges and throughout projects we aim to build their capacity to develop their organisations over the long term.
In the last year SEL international has worked with the British Council to deliver programmes in Vietnam, Georgia, and Croatia; the team has also provided consultancy to groups from Sweden, Denmark, Japan and Eastern Europe; and Allison Ogden-Newton has visited Korea and Japan to deliver keynote conference speeches.
International delegations are invited to attend SEL’s training programmes in the UK and SEL has a strong track record of running bespoke training in host countries.
Study Visits
Study visits to SEL and UK-based social enterprises by international entities can be arranged on request; SEL has a strong track record in arranging these trips and participants are keen to participate in study visits, training and action learning.
Sustainability Reviews

What will a Sustainability Review consist of?
- A high level strategic and diagnostic review of your organisation focusing on all aspects of your business including: Strategy; Governance; Customers and Users; Social / Environmental Impact; Operations; Systems, Data and Processes; Finances; Income Generation; Marketing and Communications; and HR and Organisational Development.
- Identification of key strengths and weaknesses of the organisation and external opportunities and threats
- A sustainability action plan setting out key activities for the organisation.
