Join us for the sixth LA Connecting conference, exploring the enterprising engagement between social enterprises and local authorities.
The event is an opportunity to bring together 100 key representatives from the local authorities and social enterprises from all the London boroughs to discuss and debate how the role of social enterprise can create an enterprising culture to support statutory bodies such as local authorities in these difficult economic circumstances. The conference will critically examine programmes and support currently on offer and best practice examples of collaborations that have led to increased employment and sector growth through working with social enterprise and local authorities. There will be interactive workshops on spinning out services and legal considerations and delegates will be encouraged to contribute their perspective on the role of social enterprise in the current economic climate.
1. Being enterprising as a social enterprise: Social enterprises can work in partnership with local authorities in order to efficiently achieve local priorities through being enterprising and innovative. The conference will focus on how social enterprise has been used to provide real change to local boroughs and developed local employment and economic growth.
2. Best practice from the new social enterprises: Currently, there are a number of local authorities looking to spin out services under their umbrella. We will explore a year on from key policy agendas that include the Right to Request and Right to Provide how the new social enterprises are delivering on their social and financial goals and lessons to be learnt for those in the process of this change.
The conference will include interactive workshops and an opportunity visit social enterprises in action based in Lambeth.
